| Turning up with 9 players, after a certain player (who shall remain nameless....all i will say is his surname rhymes with Berk....ham) hadnt read his fixture card and turned up at the Home ground, we realised we had a tough challenge.
Firstly i want to thank Walesby for what was a good spirited game and a high standard, in which the opposition gave us a fielder or 2 to even the sides out.....a very sporting gesture.
Ali and Dan C opened and both bowled at pace on what was a good but slowish wicket. Dan C getting 2 for 33 off his 3 and Ali with very economical figures of 0-10 off his 3. In this period Neil earned his Capt Calamity by dropping a skied catch which he could have taken his hat off and caught but Neil decided to use his teflon hands instead. Ian was expensive but picked up 1 for 33 off 2 overs, Neil picked up 3 for 25 bowling at the lower order and Dave Hedge picked up 1 for 8 off the last over.
Chasing 114 to win Akers was going to go with a 'usual' batting line up, but after some heavy heckling and pressure Turner (quack) and Collington (6) opened and between them managed to get bugger all. Ali Hall went in at 3 and managed a horribly streaky 13 (do not believe the Twitter hype). The the match winner Dave Hedge strode out and with dodgy knees and bad light saw the ball better than we have seen from him all year, smashing 63 to all parts of the ground. He was supported by Davey, who managed 25 off 9765 balls. Fiskerton reaching the target with wickets and an over in hand. A great win.
