Fiskerton's keeper helps Radcliffe to it's Runners Up spot

Fiskerton Coach Russell Jones was delighted to hear that one of his Under 13 Wicket Keepers was instrumental in Radcliffe on Trent CC’s assault on the National U13’s Cup this year.

‘Whilst practising in an indoor tournament  at Trent  Bridge last Winter, James Stephenson was spotted by the opposition coach, who were Radcliffe on Trent at the time’.

James was approached by Radcliffe purely for their U13 National Cup campaign and played in every game through the County, Regional and then National finals.

The National Finals day was sponsored by the ECB  and held over 3 days at Oakham’s superb facilities.

Losing only one game of their 5, Radcliffe went on to become Runners Up, despite having beaten the eventual winners, on the new (for this year) net run rate rule, losing by  a factor of 0.8runs!

A huge consolation prize was handed to James when given the Top Gloves award for the tournament.

Top stuff James, and well done to our well respected rivals at Radcliffe. It was a remarkable performance for a team from Nottinghamshire to take on the whole of GB and almost win the tournament.

James’s progress this season continues aplenty  having been given the Gloves for Fiskerton Saturday 1’s.

Congratulations from one and all at Fiskerton CC and we hope there are  many happy days keeping  to come.

Russell Jones
Junior Coach

  Kwik Cricket News

Dear Kwik Cricketers,

We are now joint top with Balderton after four games and looking good.  That’s four wins out of four.

We played at Farndon Cricket Club on Sunday 5th June 2011.

The first game was against Coddington Red Team

Coddington Red scored 128 runs but lost 6 wickets (minus 36 runs) which meant that they ended up at 92 runs.
We scored 157 runs and lost 1 wicket (minus 6 runs) which meant that we ended up with net 151 runs.
That’s a 59 run victory for us, good all round effort.

The side was captained by Ben who batted and bowled well, and also took a fantastic one handed catch, very impressive.  We had solid batting and bowling contributions from all players (Christian, Oliver, Tilly,
Rebecca J, Charlie, Ben and William).  Particular mentions to William and Christian who bowled maiden wicket overs, very unusual in Kwik cricket, very well done.  Christian , Charlie, Ben and Oliver need a special mention for their batting, fours and sixes abound!

The second game was against Coddington Blue Team

Coddington Blue scored 114 runs and lost 5 wickets (minus 30 runs) which meant that they ended up at 84 runs.
We scored 149 runs and lost 3 wickets (minus 18 runs) which meant that we ended up with 131 runs, a 47 run victory!

The side was captained by Rebecca J who bowled particularly well.  Fantastic displays all round with special batting and bowling mentions for Christian, Charlie and Ben.  The fielding deserves a special mention, restricting boundaries and taking four good catches, well done team.

Our overall Sunday Player of the Day was again Christian Butcher, fantastic bowling and batting, well done Christian!

Well done everybody, we stand a good chance of winning the Kwik Cricket league if we can keep the core of the squad of players together.  Would hate to lose the league because of a lost game due to key members of the team needing to be elsewhere (sorry Mums and dads, it’s the coaches heads up plea, not wanting to upset, just inform).

Keep practicing
Coach Kev
